Martinizing Cleaners recently announced the opening of its newest location in the Minneapolis metropolitan area. The new business is owned and operated by Kong Xiong and Dao Vang, a husband-and-wife duo with deep roots in the Twin Cities. Joined by their four daughters, the family brings decades of combined managerial and customer service experience to their new venture.
Xiong has spent the past 30 years with Mystic Lake Casino, where he currently serves as table games and casino manager. In his role, he oversees all aspects of table games operations, including regulatory compliance, financial accountability and personnel management. Vang has worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota for more than seven years and currently serves as a quality and risk adjustment provider consultant, focusing on quality assurance and compliance within the healthcare system.
“When we began exploring nearby industries to pursue our first business venture, drycleaning immediately stood out to us," said Vang. "Martinizing offered a way to provide a service that truly helps people simplify their lives, while also giving us a business model that is approachable, supportive, and easy to step into as first-time owners.”
Community involvement has long been a priority for both owners. Xiong has volunteered at the Mystic Lake Casino booth for several years during the Hmong International Freedom Festival. Vang has volunteered at community events, including the Hmong International Freedom Festival, Minnesota Hmong New Year, and Minnesota Indiafest through her work with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Together, they also regularly volunteer with family and friends at Feed My Starving Children.
“We are excited to bring Martinizing’s trusted services to Plymouth and the surrounding communities,” said Xiong. “Our goal is to provide reliable, high quality garment care while being a positive presence in the neighborhoods we serve.”
